The Max Biedermann Institute for Biomechanics (MBI Miami) is a center for research dedicated to the investigation of new medical procedures, both surgical and non-surgical, that will improve the quality of life for people with injuries or degenerative conditions of the musculoskeletal system. MBI for Biomechanics is dedicated to the improvement of the biomechanics of existing or new procedures.

As an institution dedicated to research and development of concepts and with a cumulative experience of over 75 years, the institute has completed over 180 research studies and its members have authored and participated in more than 150 peer reviewed papers, giving it a leading position in the field of orthopaedic biomechanics.

An emphasis has been placed around five areas involving the musculoskeletal system: trauma, reconstructive surgery for tumors and degenerative diseases, prosthetics and orthotics, and materials and device testing.

Situated in beautiful Miami Beach, Florida, the institute enjoys numerous partnerships with educational institutions, academic and commercial medical centers, fellow research institutions and companies from the private sector, that share ideas common to our vision.
